You Are an Ambassador

Scripture to Read Today: 2 Corinthians 5:16-21

We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5:20

As Americans, most of us would consider it a great honor for any U.S. President to ask us to be an ambassador to another country. Being sent as the official representative of the United States to another nation would come with all kinds of honors and opportunities. I can only imagine the sense of pride that would come with being announced as the face and voice of the American people. While I am sure we would feel the weight of the role, we would also sense great satisfaction.

While representing our great country to another world leader and nation would be an incredible honor, everyone who follows Jesus is an ambassador sent by our Savior to a lost and dying world. We bring others the astonishing hope and love of Christ. We communicate His heart for people - for every man, woman, boy, and girl. We represent God and His mission to redeem the world. What a mission!

Wherever you go today, remember that you are Christ's ambassador. You will enter into the lives of family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers with the mission of seeing others reconciled to God through the finished work of Jesus. While you bring the bad news that every person needs a Savior and cannot save themselves, you also convey the good news that God sent Jesus to be their Savior.

God uses us as ambassadors for Christ to bring the message of reconciliation to people far from God. He could have chosen to spell out that message in the clouds. He could have had the trees whisper it as their branches moved with the wind. But, God chose us - people who have been reconciled already - to bring that Good News to others!

Remember that you represent One Who is far greater than our wonderful country as you go about your life today. You are an ambassador for Christ! So go with boldness and grace as you plead with others to be reconciled to God!

Christ sends us out into the world every day as His ambassadors calling others to be reconciled to God!
