Scripture to Read Today: Ephesians 1:3-14

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

Ephesians 1:3

A Bosnian self-taught innovator has built a revolving house to make his wife happy. She wanted a more diversified view of the landscape surrounding their home. Her view from the revolving house allows her to observe the rising sun one minute and passers-by the next.

As he stood in front of his unique creation that has drawn so much attention, Vojin Kusic, 72, told Reuters what motivated him to build it. "I got weary of her complaints and periodic refurbishment of our family house, so I said, 'I'll build you a rotating house so you can spin it as you desire.'" Kusic went on to explain the rotation of the structure, "At its slowest pace, the home can spin a full circle for 24 hours, while at its quickest speed, it can spin a full circle in 22 seconds."

The house, located on a fertile plain near the town of Srbac in northern Bosnia and Herzegovina, spins around a 23-foot axis devised by the innovative husband himself (see the video below). The views of cornfields and farms shift to forests and a river as the house turns at a predetermined speed. Kusic says his wife loves the grand, changing vista she gets while sitting in one chair in her home.

Ephesians 1:3-14 provides us a sweeping vista of God's redemptive plan. The passage contains incredible truths related to God's grace in saving us. God was not a passive participant in our salvation. He was an active participant. God did it. He accomplished it for us.

While the view from a turning house may be impressive, a careful look at the blessings with which God has blessed us is even more special. The Book of Ephesians emphasizes that God "has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ" (Ephesians 1:3). That phrase "in the heavenly realms" occurs 5 times in this six-chapter letter from the Apostle Paul to the believers in the city of Ephesus. Our eternal perspective isn't focused here on earth. Instead, it is focused on who we are and what we have in Christ in heaven before God for all eternity

The splendid vista of our salvation reveals how God accepted us in Christ (vs. 3), chose us before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless in His eyes (vs. 4), and how He chose to adopt us into His family as His children (vs 5). While a Bosnian wife might have a rotating house with a fantastic view of the surrounding landscape, Ephesians gives us an incredible vista of what we have in Christ forever.

Thank God for the tremendous salvation you have in His Son, Jesus!
