Scripture to Read Today: Psalm 34:1-22
Glorify the Lord with me;
let us exalt his name together.
Psalm 34:3

"Isn't it a comfort to worship a God we cannot exaggerate?" -Francis Chan
In recent years, the quoted question above from Francis Chan has become my favorite quote about worship. Take a moment to think about what he is challenging us to ponder. Our God is so awesome that we cannot oversell, brag too much, or exaggerate Who He is!
The attributes of God include His holiness, grace, immutability, justice, love, omnipotence, omnipresence, omniscience, righteousness, self-existence, mercy, sovereignty, transcendence, etc. We could spend hours contemplating just one of these inherent characteristics of Who our God is. Yet, even after hours of contemplation, we would still only scratch the surface. CLICK HERE to explore the attributes of God more.
Most of us are comfortable "exaggerating" God in our hearts and minds. But, unfortunately, few of us have that same comfort level in communicating His extraordinary nature personally or publicly to others. Psalm 34 provides us the words of King David as he spoke to hundreds of disenfranchised Israelites who flocked to him for help after he had been hiding alone in a cave for months. As we read the Psalm, we can sense how God met David in the darkness and isolation of the cave.
In verse eight, he tells them that they can taste and see that the Lord is good. After a season of personal pain and depression, David will not shy away from what He knows about God. He cannot exaggerate how great the Lord had been to him in the prior months of misery. David invites the lonely, discouraged, frustrated crowd that had just joined him to "Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together" (Psalm 34:3).
Today is Sunday - a day of worship. Whether or not you have already attended a worship service this weekend, take the time to celebrate Who your God is in your heart and mind. Find ways to express your adoration for God to others. Invite them to exalt the Lord's name with you. Don't worry about exaggerating Who your God is. That’s impossible!
It is such a comfort knowing we worship a God we can't exaggerate!
