Day 29: Attitude of Gratitude

Scripture to Read Today: Colossians 2:1-7

Just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

Colossians 2:6-7

When we know Christ as our Savior, Jesus says nothing can pluck us from His hand, which is secure in His Father's hand:

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. -John 10-27-29

We are His. He will never leave us. Hebrews 13:5 says it as plainly as it can be said: "God has said, 'Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.'"

The Apostle Paul wanted to make sure we understood how secure we are in our relationship with Christ. He wanted us to know that nothing anywhere can, in any way, separate us from the love of God that has saved us and keeps us. Read what Paul says in Romans 8:35-39 (from the New Living Translation):

Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? ...No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.

No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Thank God for the unbreakable love in which He holds us tightly. God both saves us and keeps us by His grace. Thank you, God!
