Scripture to Read Today: Proverbs 29:1-27
Fear of man will prove to be a snare,
but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.
Proverbs 29:25

Fear quickly ensnares and paralyzes its prey. Unfortunately, we are its prey.
When we fall victim to fear's primary lie, we experience its immobilizing effects. The primary lie of fear is that other people can harm us, and they can do that unchecked by anyone. Others can run roughshod over us, and nothing can stop them.
In Psalm 118:6, the psalmist declares, "The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere people do to me?" Ultimately, if God is on our side, if He is rooting for us, other human beings cannot do irreparable harm to us.
The Bible tells us that no one can harm us without God knowing about and allowing it. If He allows it, He has a divine purpose and plan in it. The Bible goes a step farther and tells us that God protects us and limits how far anyone else can impact our lives.

It is easy to live in fear of others. We can be afraid to speak or act just because of what others say or do.
Fear convinces us that God has forgotten us. Fear convinces us that God cannot stop what others may do. Fear wants us to believe trusting God will prove worthless. Fear tries hard to convince us that we are helpless and hopeless. Fear is a liar!
Proverbs 29:25 reminds us, "Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe." That is the truth. Anything else is a lie. Fear loves to spread falsehoods and to deceive God's children. Fear is a liar!
Christian singer Zach Williams wrote and recorded a fantastic song that simply says, "Fear is a liar!" Below you will find the lyrics to his song. A couple of my favorite lines in the chorus are, "He will take your breath, stop you in your steps." Fear wants you to be immobilized. Fear wants you to fail in trusting God to keep you safe. Fear is a Liar!
When you begin to slip into a fear of what others think, say, or do, remember to trust your God. He will keep you safe!
Fear Is a Liar
Zach Williams
[Verse 1]
When he told you you're not good enough
When he told you you're not right
When he told you you're not strong enough
[Verse 2]
To put up a good fight
When he told you you're not worthy
When he told you you're not loved
When he told you you're not beautiful
That you'll never be enough
[Chorus]
Fear he is a liar
He will take your breath
Stop you in your steps
Fear he is a liar
He will rob your rest
Steal your happiness
Cast your fear in the fire
Cause fear he is a liar
[Verse 3]
When he told you you were troubled
You'll forever be alone
When he told you you should run away
You'll never find a home
When he told you you were dirty
And you should be ashamed
When he told you you could be the one
That grace could never change
[Chorus]
Fear he is a liar
He will take your breath
Stop you in your steps
Fear he is a liar
He will rob your rest
Steal your happiness
Cast your fear in the fire
Cause fear he is a liar
[Bridge]
Let Your fire fall and cast out all my fears
Let Your fire fall Your love is all I feel
[Chorus]
Fear he is a liar
He will take your breath
Stop you in your steps
Fear he is a liar
He will rob your rest
Steal your happiness
Cast your fear in the fire
Cause fear he is a liar
“If He allows it, He has a divine purpose and plan in it. The Bible goes a step farther and tells us that God protects us and limits how far anyone else can impact our lives.” This message is so humbling and reassuring to read. Personally, having this mindset and understanding relieves my soul of any pressures throughout my journey with the Lord.
